I rarely ice fish more than 4-5 hours at a time and that includes drive, walk, and set up times. Wind (above 20) generally sucks. I like to hunt wind once in a while, but it takes mental preparation and tends to take a lot out of you. Wind is manageable and you can usually wait for a different day.

The only hearing protection that works is that which you will wear. I wore these for every shot that I fired this season including dove hunting, grouse hunting, duck hunting, and pheasant hunting. Steel shot lethality research conducted on pheasants by Tom Roster showed #2 steel to be more effective (at all ranges) than either #6 or #4 steel.
