John deere instrument panel not working.
The procedure is simple, but not easy... :laugh: All you need to do is remove the cable end at the instrument cluster and start the engine. If the cable spins, it's the tach. If it doesn't, the cable is broken. If the cable is broken, do yourself a favor and clean it out good.

My 20 yr old JD 7700 has the rectangular LCD portion of the dash's backlight either burnt out or a bad ground. The LCD portion is actually illuminated anytime the tractor is running, normally. All the individual pto, transmisssion pres.,voltage, etc lights light up on start up. The FWD light does not light up during that test sequence.

I removed the instrument panel - applied 12v to pin 17 and ground to pin 20 - and nothing on the hour …If it goes to the full the problem is the fuel tank sender. On the temp gauge find the sensor wire 359 under the hood, unplug it with the key just in the run position (no need to start tractor) ground it to the engine and see what the gauge does.
