Radiator boiling/engine not overheating. I have a '12 Wrangler JK with 88k miles. Had the radiator flushed 15-20k miles ago, which started this problem again. Noticed yesterday that the jeep was running really hot, hot enough actually to make the idiot chime tell me to look at the gauges. When I started actually paying close attention to it the needle was staying at the third little hash mark on the gauge (so technical right). A built in timer/relay causes the system to go Closed Loop after a few minutes of the engine running. Closed Loop just means that the O2 sensors are being monitored as an additional input to the fuel management system. The hot oil warning is not for engine oil, it's for the automatic transmission. Check your transmission fluid level and condition. Also check for any obstruction of the transmission cooler. Around the town it runs fine. Fan clutch is good and thermostat is new. Started to overheat after a trip to an ORV park but I washed the radiator out and its pretty clean on the outside. Also drained and refilled the system completely.As noted JK's with with the 3.6 run hot.. fan does not usually kick in till 226-228.. so if under load, steep hill for example, temps in the 230's can be expected.. Best advise is to make sure you have the least amount of stuff you can blocking the grill. sink the winch down in frame, remove grill inserts etc.

On hot days (temps in 90's plus), my Jeep would overheat while driving regardless of speed. Higher speeds didn't help cool it off. In older vehicles that had questionable cooling fans, you could just drive 50-60 and the airflow through radiator was enough to keep your engine happy. Not so in the JK. Particularly if you're running the A/C.

A couple of weeks ago the electric radiator fan came on during a 2 hour drive and was very loud. After that day, that fan now comes on at full speed whenever driving more than about 10 miles on the highway. At full speed, its loud! I took it into the dealer and they replaced the TIPM computer and said it was fixed.
