What makes it so good though is that you can rapidly capture cities and castles without worrying about rebellions. There's about x3 Empire cities compared to all other cultures. Vlandia is my current choice because the mercenary mechanic was fin to try, the castle perk is good for an early kingdom and the debuff is currently a buff. Mameluke tier has some great skirmishers. Master archers are decent. Palace guards are hard to train but they are versatile. Not the best troop tree but nice and reliable backups. Javelins are very good in Bannerlord and most of your infantry get them. They melt opposition as long as they don't have a shield. Just dont bust up their hideouts and they multiply like catholic bunnies. I recommend roughly: 30% Shieldwall / 40% if no linebreakers: 50/50 both types of Sturgian shielded infantry. 30% forest bandits / 40% if no linebreakers. 20% linebreakers but only if you want to command them separately.
