I've done Dahl Pistol builds like this after finding a AAA, Nemesis, and Hornet all with +300% phaseslam. Threw on a class mod I found with +pistol damage and +dahl critical damage and just spec'd an elemental build. You need a proper skill build, weapon + anointment, shield + anointment, grenade + anointment, class mod with a decent combination of skills and passives, and artifact with decent passives. If you're playing Amara, I recommend Moxsy's Khaos Queen as a beginner build, as that's basically what I myself started with playing for the first time.

Lurningcurve. • • Edited. Drone forces Zane to use Sntnl cryo and there are better general anointments that can be used bc of mntis, like splash damage. This is my favorite build and it basically makes the clone, shield, and Zane's guns do a ton of splash cryo damage.
There are other builds like melee Amara that I think have higher damage potential, but this or a build like it is what I typically keep coming back to as my "main build" for Amara.
