My workflow: Zsphere Basemesh. Dynamesh and get basic forms right. Zremesh and start sculpting. Sculpt detail to about level 4. Decimate in Zbrush then retopo and unwrap in 3D Coat. Subdivide low poly in Zbrush and project high poly onto retopo mesh. Final fine details (pores etc) Export highest and lowest versions.

All Subtools of your Current Tool will save out if you do a Tool Menu > Save As. This will make a .ztl file. All Tools (with Subtools) will save if you do a File Menu > Save As.
