It depends if you have any problems or are upgrading cpus. If you have no issues right now and aren't upgrading to a zen3 based architecture then you don't need to update. If you do need to update though, make sure you use the bios from the Tomahawk Max II page and not the regular Tomahawk Max.

If you don't already have a B450 might as well pay a bit more for a B550. You get PCIE 4.0 with it as well.
