Maggard Safety Razors are cheap and highly recommended for beginners. I strongly recommend this starter kit. The Parker 26C is exceptionally comfortable (disinclined to nick) and efficient, and at $29 is not out of sight. The Maggard razors will also work, as will the Edwin Jagger line, but the 26C, IMO, is better than either.

FYI. whew, just picked up some proraso! I can't recall if it was you, but someone recently told me that Kiss My Face also contains SLS and parabens; it has been reformulated and this is no longer the case. The Henson is phenomenal. Design and execution are top notch. Most importantly, shaves are smooth and close. I was hesitant to try it after its price increase -- I do still believe that $70 for an aluminum razor is excessive -- but am glad I picked one up in a BST forum.
