Schiit Audio sent me an Asgard 3 to review. Quite a few people were keen to have me review it too. Even though it is much cheaper than most of my headphones, it has been interesting to see how the low end of the market is catching up. Rather than recount everything, I suggest reading the chapter on the Asgard 3 in Schiit Happened.

Both the JDS Atom and Schiit Magni look great. If the general audiophile would conclude that they sound the same then the Atom would probably be the winner because you can cable in two different inputs and switch between them. Brighter and harsher indicates that there is more noise usually. In my system, that has resulted in the Mjolnir sounding quite a bit "warmer" than some impressions suggest. This even with a non-warm DAC (Chord TT2) and bright headphones -- the Focal Utopia 2022. keenerz said:

And no balanced won't help, I fed it with Bifrost 2 and used balanced out. It's very much a chip sounding amp. It's nicely built has a sick pot and all the balanced connections are great.
