For example the competence bonus of Skald caps at 2, but it can give several bonuses to compensate. It also disables spellcasting for party members who accept rage.

Saw I basically recruited a fair amount of Companions right now, and I'm debating whether to use Daeran or not. Some of my preferences: I don't like to multiclass. I know I know, it's kind of against the Pathfinder/3.5e ethos, but I just like getting the full power of classes. This is a hangup from my PnP days. I rather not use mercenaries.

I've only ever done bard as str…13 bard 4 dd 1 vivi 2 Paladin and equipped/unequipped armor like a savage to cast spells. Going all in to 17 bard to get the max bonus song just isn't worth imo, especially now that it competes with guarded hearth in big encounters (a level 8 cleric can give more attack bonus than a level 17 bard, even if just once per rest).
