Most of the time you fight against low tier AI army, it's easy to make money and you fast on the map.
Sturgia is good, but there's a few key things to note about them. As others have said, the archer line is too inferior. With battanian fians so close by, it's easy to selectively go around scooping them up off battanian castles. The sturgian varags, spearmen, and line breakers are a magnificent infantry line up.
The thing is the veteran crossbowmen seem to have nearly as good of defense with the shields and way better lethality with the brutal crossbows. And of course banner knights are banner knights.
