Much much tankier, getting way more health, PRR, and MRR. Easier for a low life character since you can take a hit or two. Team utility like quick spot heals on allies and group defensive/offensive boosts like prayer and bless. Strimtom's hardcore season 1, 2 and 3 builds are easy to achieve, high survivability, decent new player starting builds that require no tomes. Some involve race/class/universal tree unlocks but a fair bit don't. I would say new players go look there instead of other places.
